Sailing

Yesterday at school we went to Okahu bay.18 kids from LS1 went to sailing at ASC it was warm. The first thing that we did was setting up the boat it was a bit hard luckily we got some help from Justin, Steve and JR. The second thing was how to basically sail the boat. Two people have to be on the boat one of the people have to stir  the boat at the back of the boat one have to pull the rope to sail.
The third thing was sailing to the Sky Tower and back to base. Then we have to have turns on the big boat. Lastly we have a hunt and we have to go to the base after we have to change clothes then get our certificate.

Thank you to Yachting NZ for sponsoring for us.

Mt Maunganui

LI: To learn the legend of Mount Maunganui.

The legend of Mount Maunganui tells us how Mount Maunganui got dragged to its current place.
Whaea Odie read us the story of Mount Maunganui. We used Google maps to find the places in the legend. We used Google docs to remind us of the maori.

Inquiry

LI: to learn the 4 dimensions of the Hauora
We were learning about Hauora. Hauora has 4 dimensions. Those 4 are Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Mental. Physical is when you look after your body, and look at what substances you put in your body. Social is when you go out and talk to people, sharing ideas and opinions. Spiritual is you morals, values, your beliefs, and your self-worth. Mental is someone who is always positive and bright.

For our Must Do we had to make a Poster, Animation, Movie, and Skit on one of the 4 dimensions of Hauora. So for our poster we were focusing on Social Well Being. On our animation we were focusing on Mental/Emotional Well Being. For our movie we were focusing on Physical Well Being. Lastly for our skit we were focusing on Spiritual Well Being.

Math

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics.
For Maths we had learnt about statistics. All the information that we have about statistics we had to use on to the graph that we made from the survey that we conducted on LS1 people. We had to make a presentations about where is the most popular place for you to rest in LS1.

We had a rubric which is a score system for how good our presentation is. The points are: poor which is one point, acceptable which is two points and good which is three points. We can get points for content and delivery.

We had scored five out of six points.

Term 1 Kiwi Can overview

LI:To recap everything we did in kiwi can.
Today in kiwi can we recapped all of our learning from term. Our big theme is Positive Relationship. Our 3 modules were Positive Communication,Friendship and Cooperation.

We made three groups. Each group talked about the 5 w's and the h for one module. After we talked as a group, each group shared their ideas back to the class.

The 1 thing that I enjoyed is code breaker because it is very challenging.
The 1 thing that I learnt is positive communication means that you should say positive message not negatively.
The 1 thing that I have to be better at is Cooperation because to work better as a team.
