LI:To edit our writing using DRAFT.
This week for writing LS2 has been focusing on Abstract Noun Poems. Our abstract noun is about culture. An Abstract noun is something that exists but you cannot touch, an abstract noun also comes with metaphors and 5 senses. The 5 senses we use to make our poem powerful is using smell, taste, hear, feeling and see. Something that helped us write our abstract nouns is using Metaphors , Simile , complex sentences , punctuation, complex sentences and word hippo. The poem starts with a definition of the abstract noun we've chosen and the next sentence starts with it is … using one of the senses.LS2 definition or using DRAFT is Delete,Rearrange,Fix,Talk.
Something we found interesting is how the DRAFT System works.
Something we learnt is how the DRAFT system works.

Success
LI: To write a abstract noun senses poem
Our task was to create a poem using metaphors and abstract nouns.
A metaphor is a comparison of two things, saying one thing is the other without using ‘like’ or ‘as’.
Abstract nouns are things the we can see but we can't physically touch it.
The 5 senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell and feel.
First, we chose a word from the list, our group picked success. After picking the word,we looked for the structure in the example given to us. Then, we created a poem with the structure. After writing the poem, we created a DLO about the poem.
The word that our group chose was Success.
We really enjoyed this activity, because it taught us how to create metaphors and poems, using abstract nouns.

Test Maori Knowledge
Today for Maori we have recapped about the Maori sentence structure. In the google doc showen above it says what the object is, and where it is, using Maori dictionary. After we finished that activity we went on a site called test your knowledge of these kupu. This site was to see how much Maori words knowldge we knew. I enjoyed doing this activity because it built up more of my Maori word knowledge.
Names
This week for Maori we learnt some names, boys and girls.
This time we didn't use Maori Dictionary to translate the Maori names into English names. We used clues to figure it out.
In the Maori alphabet there are no 'j,s' so they use 'h'. Also In the Maori alphabet there are no 'i and d' so they use 'r'. In the Maori alphabet there are no 'v' so they use 'w'. Also in the Maori alphabet there are no 'b' they use a 'p'.
I enjoyed this task and found this task easy to fill in. Today I have improved my knowledge of Maori names
Opinion Making
Our group has been focusing on consider both perspectives. Perspectives means a different points of view. Our group has been gathering information of our topic whether it is true or not.The topic was about sacred spots from Maori mythology. One of the myths our group decided to chose was Waipoua forest,Waipoua forest is the creation story of Tane Mahuta creating the Earth by lying between his parents Papatuanuku mother earth and Ranginui the sky father.Tane Mahuta pushed and stretched his parents apart to fight for the light and space for him and his siblings.Something we found interesting about our task given was exploring our researching skills to find the evidence that is true and not about the myth we have chosen above.
Main Ideas
For reading we have been focusing on the Maui and Sun story. Our task was to identify the main ideas in the text. Our information we have gathered together is our opinions we have mixed together to create a more explained main ideas.Something we learnt from this activity is to read the text and identify all the different main ideas we might find important to vital.Something we found interesting about this activity is being able to identify the main ideas of a text.

Venn Diagram
For reading, we have been focusing on summarising text information such as stories, articles and other texts. The text we used for this reading task was the traditional Maori story of how the world came to be. This text was about Papatuanuku and Ranginui waking up from eternal darkness in earth's first light, and Tane Mahuta (one of their children) seperating them to grant his siblings and himself freedom from the darkness. Tawhirimatea was angry at the seperation of his parents.
For this task, we watched a video and read a text based off of the Maori story of how the world came to be (In the Beginning). We labelled the main parts of the video version that are not included in the written version, and labelled the main prts of the written version that were not included in the video. In the middle, we labelled the similarities between the two stories.
I really enjoyed this task and found it easy because I am familiar with identifying the key ideas and comparing the two similar but different texts/information sources.
Summarising
For reading, we have been focusing on summarising text information such as stories, articles and other texts. The text we used for this reading task was the traditional Maori story of how the world came to be. This text was about Papatuanuku and Ranginui waking up from eternal darkness in earth's first light, and Tane Mahuta (one of their children) separating them to grant his siblings and himself freedom from the darkness. Tawhirimatea was angry at the separation of his parents.
For this task, we found exactly twenty keywords to build an understanding of the text about. Keywords help us understand more in a short amount of time. Then from those twenty words, we chose six of those words to create a summary on. A summary is a short and brief description of the story so that we can understand the text in fewer words.
I enjoyed this task and found it easy because I am familiar with summarising and understanding texts using the key reading comprehension strategies so I can expand my knowledge of a story.

How did they see
How did they hear
How did they smell
How did they touch
After answering the questions, we moved on creating the narrative by using the plan and ideas we have written on the framework DLO.
I enjoyed writing the narrative because of the amount of time used to write up the framewok and the narrative.
