Pros and Cons

Introduction
Food continers are used for storing food but all of them have requirements depending on the storage needed.

Stainless Steel Gastronorm
Each stainless steel gastronorm is made out of stainless steel that is suitable for oven cooking and storing food in the freezer. It is suitable for high temperatures and it can also melt because it is metal.

Plastic Gastronorm
The plastic gastronorm is made out of bendy plastic and it has a airtight lid so food won't get nasty and it is not suitable for high temperatures because fire and plastic don't mix.

Mason Jars
Mason Jars are made out of delicate glass and it is suitable for storing and preserving all kinds of food and it is made out of glass so it can break into small pieces.

Conclusion
The three containers are best for different situations. Food are often stored for each situations like storing leftovers in the fridge, storing preserved food like fruit or pickles at room temperature and storing food that needs to be kept warm for a buffet restaurant.

Plastic Gastronorm are best for storing food in the fridge, because they have lids making them stackable and the person buying them can choose the size they want.

Mason jars are best for storing things like fruit or pickles, because they have an airtight lid and they are the only type of containers suitable for things like that.

Gastronorm pans are best for storing food for buffets and things like that, because they keep the food warm and they can fit a lot of food in it.

Time

Time is a continued progress of living or events in the past, future and present.
The main units of time are: seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years decades etc.

Three different ways we investigated to measure time are: Water clock, sand clock, and pendulum.

The water and sand clocks were made using plastic cups and the pendulum was made using a small weight tied to a rope.

With the water clock, a hole was drilled in the bottom of a plastic cup and there were lines which were used to measure how long it would take to get to one mark from another.

The same process was the same for the sand clock.

The water clock measured time by how long it took for the water to reach a mark. The same thing for the sand clock. The pendulum measured time by how many times is swung.
There are many other ways to measure time, but water clocks, sand clocks and pendulums are a good way to measure time without electricity.

Reading W.I.P

This week we found pros and cons of food storage containers by using the T-chart and the  process of reciprocal reading.

First, we picked a container to read about, we read the text and summarised the information to get an idea of what the container was used.

After reading we had to identify the pros and cons of the containers using a T-chart. We used the images to think about what the challenges were and what we needed for the challenges.

Lastly, we repeated the same process to all the texts and containers.

This is a Work In Progressed that will be finished next week.

Metaphors

Metaphors is a comparison of two things with a similar quality by saying one object is the other. Metaphors are a kind of figurative language.

For an example: her lovely voice was music to his ears. The object in this phrase is voice, so the comparison object is music and ears. The meaning of this phrase is her voice is beautiful to someone's ears.

SSR Selfie

For this activity we had to read a book for 15 minutes and we had to answer questions from the slide.

Venn Diagram

Similarities and Difference can be found in a text by using a venn diagram to compare and contrast.

The book, Space Food is about a group of kids learning about how to stop food from rotting in space. The book, The Dippy Dinner Drippers is about a family that are messy eaters.

The difference between the books is that Space Food gives information about bacteria and, The Dippy Dinner Drippers talks about a messy family eating different combinations of food.

The similarities of both books are that they are both narratives and they both talk about food.

A venn diagram can help figure out what's the same and what's not.

Swimming

I learned water safety that I learned last week. My swimming teachers name was Kelly.

First I used a kick board to do small kicks with straight legs. To do that skill I used a float board. Then I did small kicks and big arm circles.

Then, I did the streamline. To do a streamline I put my hands on top of another. Both hands have to be behind the ears.

After that, I did a dolphin dive. To do that I had to jump up then, I curled my body straight down.

Finally, I did kicking on my back. To do that I had to swim on my back then I kick slowly.

I enjoyed this swimming session because I've got better at the rolling back to front.

Similies

Similes is a comparison of two things using "like" and "as...as." Similes are mostly use in figurative language.

The "like" similes are used for a action. For example: The lady swam like a fish.

The "as...as" similes are used for adjectives. For example: The turtle is as green as a leaf.

Similes can help people to compare two things with the words "as...as" and "like."
